Maverix Muse 010 - Loving Lately

Here is a quick recap of what I’ve been loving lately. It’s a mixture of documentaries, holiday cheer, and delicious (but easy!) treats.

01 Slim Aarons: The High Life - I stumbled upon this documentary on Amazon Prime and couldn’t stop watching! It’s definitely a Time Machine that will take you back to the simpler times of the rich and famous.

“SLIM AARONS SPENT HIS LIFE DOCUMENTING JET-SETTERS, MOVIE STARS AND BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE DOING BEAUTIFUL THINGS DURING THE 50’S, 60’S AND 70’S. IN “THE HIGH LIFE,” THE STORY BEHIND SOME OF HIS MOST FABULOUS PHOTOGRAPHS ARE REVEALED AMONG WHITE SAND BEACHES, LONGING PALMS AND RELAXED, GORGEOUS FACES.”

02 - Background music playing from YouTube is such a vibe for me lately! Last month we were out to dinner with a couple of friends and after dinner, we went back to their place to have a cocktail and see their bunnies (yes, real life bunny rabbits, they were adorable.) and when we walked in, they turned on background music on YouTube. I had heard of some of the cable companies streaming the yule log during the holiday season but hadn’t seen the fireplace with background music on YT. It is so perfect for setting the tone while working at home.

03 - Copycat Starbucks Hibiscus Refresher - I love a Starbucks refresher but sometimes I don’t want to get out so I’ll whip it up at home. So tasty and a fraction of the price!

How to make it at home: Steep a hibiscus tea bag in a glass of pink lemonade. While the tea is steeping, muddle fresh strawberries + blueberries. Remove the tea bag, add ice and muddled fruit and stir!

04 - These mini cheesecakes and lemon pie desserts for a small dinner party. Recipe coming soon!

05 - Family nights in, playing “heads up”.

06 - Stain Solver. I guess this is what we get excited about at my age. I had washed this coat so many times trying to get the years of grime off of it and nothing has ever worked. I reached under the sink for this stain remover that Big had asked me to order a few months ago so he could spot clean a pair of his tennis shoes. Well, I tried it on this coat and it worked like a charm. It looks brand-new!

What little luxuries you loving lately?

xx, Riss
